Matthew Felan is the President & CEO of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance. Prior to joining the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance, Felan served as the Director of the McLaren Bay Medical Foundation from 2013-2014 and as the Chief Development Officer at Special Olympics Michigan from 2011-2012. Matt worked as a political fundraiser for over a decade, spending extensive time in Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. Felan was the National Deputy Finance Director for Senator Hillary Clinton (2006-2008) and Finance Director/ PAC Director for Virginia Governor Tim Kaine (2004-2009). Matt is a native of the Great Lakes Bay Region. He has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from James Madison College at Michigan State University. Matt is married to his wife Janelle who works in Global Human Resources at the Dow Chemical Company. Matt and Janelle have two children, Noah (12) and Alexandra (9). Felan is a graduate of Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance Institute for Leaders (2013), Leadership Midland (2014), and the Mt Pleasant Chamber Rollie Dennison Leadership Institute (2017). Matt was recognized in 2016 by the Boy Scouts of American Michigan Crossroads Council with the Distinguished Citizen Award and in 2018 by the Michigan Hispanic/Latino Commission with the STEM Award. Felan serves on the Boards of the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA, the Great Lakes Bay Economic Club, Infuse Great Lakes Bay, and the Great Lakes Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau. Matt is also a member of the Bay City Morning Rotary Club. Matt has coached youth basketball, football, and soccer over the course of the past decade. You may have also seen him on stage at the Bay City Players where he played Senator Clyde Carlin in the Best Man in 2016. Felan has also participated in a wide array of charitable events across the Great Lakes Bay Region including Real Men Wear Pink in support of the American Cancer Society, the Bay City & Mt Pleasant Polar Plunges in support of Special Olympics Michigan, the MDA Lock-Up, 100 Men Who Cook in support of the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw’s Most Stylish in support of the United Way, and as Donny Wo in the United Way of Bay County’s Murder Mystery Dinner in 2018. |
