About the Rosebush Early Learning Center
Community Mental Health for Central Michigan (CMHCM) was awarded an $85,000 grant through the Michigan Health Endowment Fund to start a regional Autism Center. The grant was awarded in March 2018. Soon thereafter, Rosebush Elementary School was solidified as the location of the center in an effort to truly be a regional resource for Isabella, Clare, Gladwin, Mecosta, and Osceola counties.
The vision for this space is to become a “one-stop shop” for individuals under 21 years of age diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). CMHCM will offer early intervention, screening and assessments, evidenced-based services, and interventions, with an emphasis on whole health care. Children and individuals will receive integrated care regarding education, behavioral health, and physical health.
Integrating behavioral health services with medical treatment is imperative for success. This center will also be used as a place for individuals to receive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), an evidenced-based model to treat those with ASD, along with other community-based services such as academic services, health and wellness education and services, outpatient rehabilitation services, and support from a network of peers, families, and professionals.
This center will increase access to services, given its location, as well as its purpose to provide more than one service in the designated location. Collaboration with CMHCM, Gratiot-Isabella RESD, Clare-Gladwin RESD, Mecosta-Osceola ISD, Central Michigan University, McLaren for Central Michigan, Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, and local medical providers is within the vision for this center.
