Food Truck Friday Returns to Mount Pleasant Welcome new focus of innovative products developed in Great Lakes Bay Region
WHAT: Food Truck Friday kicks off the season on June 7, 2019 with a full list of delicious eateries from across the Great Lakes Bay Region. Each week, one vendor with the most customer votes will win the title of Food Truck Friday champion. All winners will be invited back at the end of the season where one will be crowned the 2019 CMURC Favorite Food Truck.
A focus of the weekly food event is the unveiling of an entrepreneurial Product Showcase. Local entrepreneurs have combined their passion, with long hours, hard work, and even a little bit of magic to bring their product to market. Food Truck Friday participants will have the first look and opportunity to purchase limited-run, first-edition products like Theramazing's therapeutic weighted cap and Dribble Stick Training's basketball training system. To be eligible for the showcase, companies with innovative products worked through the CMURC Right Choice accelerator program where ideas are brought from concept to creation.
Attendees can expect to see eight food trucks each week with two additional spots reserved for local food establishments.
This summer's list of tasty treats includes: Cruisin' Chef, Twin Turbo BBQ, Grub Hubb LLC, 3 Lil Pig's BBQ and Catering, Ignite Donuts, Wells Wanderlust, The Patty Wagon, LumberJill Concessions, Central Fusion, DW's Street Eatery, Nate's Cart, John Reynolds Catering "Who Doesn't Like Pizza?", Phat Matt's Food Trailer, Fire and Rice, AT Concessions and Greentree Grocery and Deli.
WHY: The focus is to support local entrepreneurs and evolve the community, one purchase at a time. In 2018, 26 vendors generated $64,250 in sales over a 14-week period. The event welcomed 11 new vendors and 5,500+ attendees.
WHEN: Food Truck Friday starts June 7 and runs every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will wrap up with a showcase of champions on August 23. Rain or shine, food trucks will be lined up and ready to serve delectable dishes to the Mount Pleasant community.
WHERE: Central Michigan University Research Corporation (front parking lot) 2625 Denison Drive Mount Pleasant, MI 48858
WHO: The event is open to the public. Parking is available in the CMURC parking lot next to the food truck setup area.
