Facing a cancer diagnosis is undeniably challenging, but what happens after the treatments end and individuals must adapt to a new version of themselves? How do they find peace, purpose, and presence in their everyday lives? To help, MyMichigan Health will host
“Restoring Mind and Spirit After Cancer Treatment,” a free, virtual program designed to assist individuals in coping with the psychological impact of cancer and its treatment, including dealing with fears of recurrence, anxiety, and depression.
The online event will take place Tuesday, August 12, from noon to 1 p.m., and will be led by Oncology Social Worker Stephanie Gerds, L.L.M.S.W., and Spiritual Care Manager Laura Hoffman. Attendees will learn coping strategies and techniques to reduce stress and anxiety, relaxation to promote better sleep hygiene to manage insomnia, finding meaning and purpose after cancer and guidance on spiritual practices, to help navigate spiritual questions and find inner peace. There will be a question and answer time following the presentations.
Registration is required. Those interested in signing up may visit mymichigan.org/aftercancer. Those needing assistance with registration may call toll-free (800) 395-1355. An email will be sent with the link to the Teams meeting to confirm registration.
