MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Patients in Isabella County now have a faster, more convenient way to get laboratory services. To skip the line, patients can book a lab visit ahead of time at MidMichigan Medical Center – Mt. Pleasant and secure a time that is most convenient for them.

“Scheduled appointments will take priority over walk-ins, although we will continue to welcome walk-ins as well,” said Chris Engelhardt, laboratory support services manager. “This will enable patients who are on a tight schedule to book ahead and know when their appointment will be. We will be monitoring demand and staffing to accommodate both walk-ins and scheduled appointments. We anticipate that this change will benefit all patients including walk-ins by better balancing our traffic across the day. We also are able to offer 24/7 service due to the Medical Center being open at night. Patients may use the Main Entrance on the north side of the building for lab services on weeknights and weekends when the South Entrance is closed. There is no extra charge for evening and weekend lab service.”

Engelhardt explained that the new lab scheduling option is being piloted in Mt. Pleasant with plans to roll it out at other MidMichigan lab locations in the near future.

“You do not need to be a current patient of the Medical Center to schedule an appointment or to use our lab,” said Engelhardt. “We accept signed lab orders from any provider or facility, including McLaren providers, and we participate in most major insurances. We also offer electronic delivery of test results to your MyMidMichigan account. With some exceptions for complex testing, results are transmitted within 2 business days.”

Patients may book appointments through their MyMidMichigan account or they may schedule as a guest via the public website. Those interested in learning more may visit www.midmichigan.org/24-7.
