Mt. Pleasant Youth Football Team Makes Donation in Honor of Andrea Benaske

MyMichigan Health representatives welcomed members of the Mt. Pleasant Youth Rocket Football League who visited MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant to present a generous donation. In memory of Andrea Benaske, this collective effort not only paid tribute to a treasured life but also bolstered the support network within the community for individuals battling cancer.

In a touching tribute to a beloved community member and to support those battling cancer, the Mt. Pleasant Youth Rocket Football team donated to the MyMichigan Health Foundation supporting the Chemotherapy & Infusion Services Department at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant. This heartfelt contribution of gift bags and gift cards will benefit patients undergoing treatment at the Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, providing them comfort and support during their journey.

The fundraising effort was spearheaded by the athletes in memory of Andrea Benaske, a respected and cherished figure in the Mt. Pleasant community who succumbed to cancer in December 2023. Known for her vigorous spirit, dedication to her family and commitment to her community, Benaske’s legacy continues to inspire acts of kindness and generosity.

“It’s donations like these that highlight the profound impact of community support, uplifting our patients’ spirits and reinforcing that they are not facing this alone,” said Jamie Hall, R.N., in the Mt. Pleasant’s Chemotherapy & Infusion Services Department. “Andrea’s legacy is undoubtedly one of strength, love, and community, values that are deeply woven into this generous gesture.”

Mark Benaske, board member, fundraiser participant, and Andrea’s husband, shared a heartfelt sentiment: “Seeing the community rally in memory of Andrea to support a cause so close to our hearts is incredibly moving. Andrea's legacy is not just in the memories we cherish but in the acts of kindness and support that we continue in her name. This donation is a powerful reminder of the good that comes from unity, compassion and the desire to make a difference in the lives of those around us. I’m deeply thankful to the Mt. Pleasant Youth Rocket Football team and everyone who made this possible.”
