Position Summary | The Manager of Dietetic Internships & Experiential Rotations is responsible for directing the face-to-face Dietetic Internship (DI) and managing, coordinating, and supervising the distance education Supervised Experiential Learning (SEL) rotations in the nutrition and dietetics (MSND) graduate program. |
Required Qualifications | Master’s degree, preferably in dietetics or health science. Three years of professional experience in dietetics following the earning of a registered dietitian nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential. Registered dietitian nutritionist. Demonstrated ability to coordinate the work of others. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Demonstrated positive interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image. Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. |
Preferred Qualifications | AND membership. Prior teaching and grant writing experience. Previous experience developing and implementing a graduate dietetic internship program and distance education SEL rotations. Prior experience in ACEND accreditation. |
Duties & Responsibilities | Maintains and assists leadership with the development of policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and ensures fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students (such as program admission, retention and completion policies). Assists the MSND program director with the administration of Plan B: Option III – Experiential Track: A Pathway to RDN, which includes launching, coordinating, and evaluating the education and training for the SEL. Assists preceptors in monitoring student adherence to program policy and procedures. Trains preceptors in competency-based education and SEL. Trains students in competency-based education and SEL in MSND Plan B: Option III – Experiential Track: A Pathway to RDN. Initiates, implements, and monitors internship and SEL student selection/retention process. Coordinates and manages the quality of SEL required by ACEND standards. Prepares for the launch of SEL to fulfill the needs of the track. Reviews affiliation agreements for SEL rotations sites with assistance from the Site Agreements & Regulatory Compliance office at the University. Reviews sites with previous affiliation agreements from other programs at CMU and establish new SEL rotations sites nationwide. Conducts student evaluations in cooperation with instructors/site preceptors. Assists in the maintenance of program accreditation, including timely submission of fees, reports, and requests for major program changes. Schedules, coordinates, and monitors planned DI and SEL. Assists graduates in applying for the R.D.N. exam and with job searches. Conducts the on-going review of program curriculum to meet the accreditation standards. Plans and schedules formal classes, lectures, seminars, field trips, and other activities for program participants. Facilitates processes for continuous assessment of program and student learning outcomes. Reviews appropriate records and documents pertaining to the DI and SEL and assists in preparation of the annual program report. Assists in surveys of graduates and their employers as required for continuing program accreditation. Coordinates and maintains communication with program director, program faculty, preceptors and other stakeholders involved with the program. Trains facility and staff to act as preceptors to the students and communicates program information to preceptors, instructors and program director. Serves as CMU liaison representative to participating hospitals. Initiates and selects appropriate facilities and consults & negotiates agreements. Participates in professional dietetic activities, attends the state and area dietetic educators’ meetings. Teach up to three credits per year. Other duties as assigned. |
