Position Title | WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS CREW LEADER |
Position Summary | The Warehouse Operations Crew Leader oversees, coordinates, and assists the work of all Warehouse Workers in the University Stores/Warehouse Operations unit; this includes organizing, monitoring, tracking, and performing the daily activities related to moving/delivery, assembly/disassembly of systems, furniture, and other equipment. This position also supports other University Stores functions as needed including central receiving, warehouse, surplus, and fixed assets. |
Required Qualifications | High school diploma or GED. Three years of work experience in warehousing, stockroom operations, or a related field. Possession of valid chauffeur’s license that meets the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of delivery services and moving functions. Ability to interpret building diagrams, layouts, and moving requests. Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and sketches. Ability to conduct appropriate mathematical analysis for warehousing and labor distribution. Ability to maintain accurate delivery records and documentation. Ability to effectively use a computer, including but not limited to e-mail and the internet. Working knowledge of standard business software, including Microsoft 365. Ability to complete on campus forklift certification training and operate a forklift safely and properly within 30 days of employment. Ability to follow and/or interpret oral or written directions. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image. Ability to work independently and in a team environment and to provide a high level of service excellence to campus. Ability to work in a manner that will not endanger the safety of other persons, oneself, equipment, and property. Demonstrated customer service, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read, write, and comprehend regulations/instructions governing the duties of this position. Ability to be on-call for responses to campus on nights, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications | Experiences supervising or leading others. Demonstrated knowledge of campus buildings and departments. Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Software System and Applications. Demonstrated knowledge of warehousing operations, inventory control procedures, and space allocation. Experience pulling orders in a warehouse environment. Demonstrated knowledge of considerations necessary for new product additions and product deletions. Experience conducting physical inventories. Experience with computerized inventory control systems and receiving software. Knowledge of items related to plumbing, carpentry, metals, and other trade related materials. Experience in shipping/receiving. Experience with LTL and FTL incoming and outgoing freight. Experience with small package delivery services. Experience in route delivery with scheduled stops, including casing routes to efficiently meet prioritized delivery commitments. Experience handling and distributing confidential and sensitive information in a variety of media. Experience keeping records of tracked materials including the following forms of mail: certified, registered, insured, express and priority mail with special services. Experience assembling all lines of Steelcase systems furniture. Experience repairing and assembling office chairs from varying manufacturers. Experience with light carpentry duties. Experience with OSHA safety regulations. |
Duties & Responsibilities | Provides instruction, training, and direction to all Warehouse Workers and support personnel. Assists the Manager of University Stores in the response, set-up, and scheduling of moving/delivery, systems furniture, supply/equipment delivery functions, and other work requests. Prepares moving and assembly related cost estimates for campus departments. Gathers information and prepares reports assessing operations, labor hours, and other details. Serves as a point of contact for internal and external clients and vendors. Conducts research and performs analysis to improve safety and operating efficiency. Provides administrative support to the Manager of University Stores in management or work requests and overtime. Develops, modifies, and implements related policies and procedures as directed by the Manager. Completes department processes requiring the use of SAP, Team Dynamix, and other necessary software applications. Coordinates record-keeping, routine maintenance, and daily inspections for fleet services and industrial equipment. Performs work in the following main areas: University Stores/Warehouse, Central Receiving, Moving/Delivery/Furniture installs, University Surplus, and serves as backup support for the University Mailroom. Receives, stores, and issues equipment, materials, and merchandise in a warehouse/stockroom atmosphere. Checks incoming orders against requisitions, invoices, packing slips, etc. Performs physical inventories. Marks incoming and outgoing products, materials, supplies, and documents with proper identification codes and accompanying paperwork Prepares necessary reports and documentation. Ensures that work/storage areas are neat and orderly. Prepares for and sets up University, Salvage, Surplus, and Auction Sales. Places freight and stock items in the proper storage areas. Inspects incoming freight and accompanying documentation for accuracy and damages. Documents discrepancies with incoming freight. Loads and unloads shipments and deliveries. Delivers and assembles merchandise, furniture, and equipment. Delivers goods to campus departments, including but not limited to office furnishings, supplies, and equipment. Completes moving and delivery requests as directed. Cases mail for efficient route delivery. Picks up and delivers mail, including certified, registered, insured, and express mail from the US Post Office and other off campus facilities; this includes obtaining signatures upon delivery, when required. Sorts mail, packages, and other merchandise as directed. Performs other duties as assigned. |
